MatterExport
MatterExport

Security

Written for the IT, risk, and information-governance teams who sign off on software at law firms. The short version: MatterExport by UC Logic is a desktop tool, your data stays on your machines, and your iManage permissions keep applying.

No MatterExport server in the data path

MatterExport is a desktop Windows application. Documents are transferred directly from your iManage environment to the storage location you choose on your machine or network. There is no intermediary cloud service: your documents, metadata, and credentials are never sent to UC Logic.

Connects to iManage the supported way

The app talks to iManage Work 10 (Cloud or on-premises) via iManage's own REST API — the same interface iManage provides for approved applications. No database access, no server-side agents, nothing installed in your iManage environment.

Your credentials, your permissions

Users sign in with their normal iManage credentials, and single sign-on (SSO) is supported. Because every request runs as the logged-in user, MatterExport can only see and export what that user is already permitted to access under your existing iManage security model.

Your admin stays in control

MatterExport will not connect until an iManage administrator enables it in Control Centre — via the approved-applications list (iManage Cloud) or by importing our manifest (on-premises). Your firm can revoke that access at any time, centrally.

Minimal phone-home

The application's only network call to UC Logic is a read-only licence check to verify your subscription is active. The licence check does not transmit documents, matter metadata, or iManage credentials.

The data flow, end to end

  1. Your admin enables MatterExport in iManage Control Centre.
  2. A user installs the app on a Windows machine inside your environment.
  3. The user signs in with their own iManage credentials (SSO supported).
  4. The app reads documents and metadata over the iManage REST API and writes them to the local or network folder the user selects — preserving folder structure, with CSV metadata files and an HTML export report.
  5. Nothing from that export touches UC Logic systems at any point.
